I don’t much believe in resolutions. Mostly because they set you up for failure–because it starts with a negative thought. A promise to remove something from your life or FIX something that is wrong.
The problem with that is that negative always attracts negative. You’re starting the new year by telling yourself everything that is WRONG with you! And when you fail (and odds are you will), you sink deeper into the negative. Berating yourself silently for not losing those 10 pounds, for eating that bar of chocolate or drinking two glasses of wine on a Monday night.
So, instead of focusing on all that things that I want to “remove” from my life in 2013, I thought I’d share all the things I want MORE of this year.
My New Year’s Promise
I promise to laugh MORE.
I promise to listen MORE.
I promise to be MORE creative.
I promise to read MORE.
I promise to exercise MORE.
I promise to spend MORE time with friends.
I promise to appreciate MORE.
I promise to learn MORE.
I promise to be MORE kind (to myself).
I promise to enjoy the quiet MORE.
I promise to sleep MORE.
I promise to explore MORE.
I promise to take MORE pictures.
I promise to write MORE.
I promise to cook MORE.
I promise to be in the moment MORE.
I promise to BE MORE.
Cheers.. to today! And every day that I am given the opportunity to open my eyes and be MORE.
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

More is good! What a great way to turn the whole resolution thing on its head.
Love it…Thanks for this.
